Dining Destinations on Whidbey Island

Whidbey Island, nestled in the heart of the Puget Sound, offers not only picturesque landscapes and serene coastal living but also a vibrant culinary scene that caters to a diverse range of tastes. Amy Gulden and Mary Matthew with Team Langley have compiled a guide to the best dining destinations on Whidbey Island.

The Orchard Kitchen: Where Farm-to-Table Excellence Meets Coastal Island Charm

Team Langley recommends starting your culinary journey at Orchard Kitchen, a true gem in the heart of Bayview. This experience is a true testament to the island's commitment to farm-to-table dining. Chef Vincent, a Whidbey Island native, takes pride in sourcing ingredients from their own farm as well as a variety of other local farms, ensuring that every dish is a celebration of Whidbey's rich agricultural offerings. The land in which Orchard Kitchen sits on has been farmed for approximately 90 years and was once a cattle farm. It is evident that soil rich in nutrients truly cultivates the most flavorful and delicious fruits and vegetables. Chef Vincent creates a menu centered around what is seasonal and thriving at the time of your visit.

Upon your arrival to Orchard Kitchen you will be greeted and offered a welcome beverage. Owner Tyla, the “Wine Maven”, curates a wine pairing to enhance the evenings course menu or you can choose your own. You will be enchanted by the warm and inviting ambiance in the historic dining barn or a special seat in the kitchen at the Chef's Counter or the Chef's Table.

Team Langley’s favorite farm stand sits at the top of the property and is an easy stop to and from Langley. The Orchard Kitchen Farm Stand is open for self-serve vegetable sales around May-October. They also sell on the Whidbey Island Food Hub online. The Food Hub is a local online Farmer’s Market.

The Oystercatcher: A Unique Culinary Experience in Coupeville

For those with a penchant for seafood, The Oystercatcher in Coupeville is a must-visit destination. As real estate agents with Team Langley, we understand the allure of living in close proximity to such culinary treasures, making homes for sale on Whidbey Island even more enticing. We live, and work on the island and enjoy having incredible restaurants in such close proximity.

The Oystercatcher's menu is a testament to the island's maritime heritage, featuring an array of dishes that highlight the freshest catches from the surrounding waters. Clients considering properties on Whidbey Island will appreciate the restaurant's commitment to sustainability, as many ingredients are sourced from local fishermen and farmers.

The dining experience at the Oystercatcher is not only elevated by its cozy ambiance with an open kitchen in the center of the restaurant, but by the artistic presentation of each dish and the quality of ingredients. The restaurant's interior reflects a harmonious blend of coastal aesthetics and contemporary design, providing an exquisite backdrop for memorable meals. Whether enjoying the panoramic views of Penn Cove or savoring the delicate flavors of their renowned clam chowder, clients will find The Oystercatcher to be a true culinary haven. Mary and Amy, the Mother, Daughter duo and owners of Team Langley recently enjoyed the Happy Hour Menu and ordered fresh oysters on the half shell to start, and shared the Spicy Peperonata Cioppino and Parisian Gnocchi. It was the perfect way to spend a relaxing Saturday afternoon.

Prima Bistro: French-inspired Northwest Cuisine in the Heart of Langley

Langley, the charming seaside town on Whidbey Islands south side, is home to another culinary treasure – Prima Bistro. Prima Bistro is a Northwest Bistro that transports diners to the streets of Paris with its French-inspired cuisine and elegant ambiance. The restaurant's commitment to using fresh, local, and in season ingredients ensures that each dish is a culinary masterpiece. Many of the ingredients come from their own farm, Intimis Farm. From classic confit of muscovy duck leg to decadent coq au vin, Prima Bistro offers a taste of France in the heart of the Pacific Northwest.

Sitting at the Prima Bistro Bar feels like Langley’s living room. If you want to get to know the island through the eyes of local island residents this is the place to be. Charming is an understatement. You will be greeted with friendly service and friends.

The outside patio is open throughout the summer with views of the Sound surrounded by a courtyard of flowers. Langley truly comes alive in the summer months with locals and tourists alike. Prima Bistro takes reservations and is family friendly. This is a place to gather and call home. After a long day in our Langley office we love to walk over for our favorites, fish or steak frites.

Saltwater Fish House and Oyster bar: A Seafood Haven with a Modern Twist

Located on First Street in the heart of Langley is your classic yet exceptional seafood restaurant, Saltwater Fish House. Fish and chips, clam chowder, lobster rolls, crab cakes, mussels, clams, and a great oyster selection, or the ultimate seafood tower. Oh, trust us, you cannot go wrong. If you love, love, love, seafood like we do you will love Saltwater Fish House! By the way, a true island secret, they also make an amazing classic American burger. This is often the reason we dine here so don’t be shy if you do not love seafood.
